Timber cladding

BCL timber cladding panels are designed and built on a ‘secret-fixing’ principle in a controlled factory environment, ensuring the highest levels of quality and can be made out of a wide range of accredited hard and soft woods.

The continued growth in the use of timber in recent years as a preferred means of cladding buildings, reflects the unique characteristics that timber provides for Architects & Designers.

The following points illustrate just some of the inherent advantages to be gained by the specification of Timber Cladding:

• Environmentally friendly
• A renewable resource
• Suits all types of buildings
• Provides design versitility
• Durable & long lasting
• Low in maintenance cost
• Lightweight
• A good insulator
• Wide range of species available
• Unlimited choice of finished appearance
• Speed of installation (off-site panel assembly)

The principle of timber rain-screen cladding has been around for decades, but has once again become a design consideration as it is ideally suited to the climatic conditions found in the UK.
An outer rain-screen deflects most of the driven rain, whilst behind this is a ventilated and drained cavity. Within the design brief BCL will also ensure that the correct selection & use of damp-proof membrane, Insulation & Breather membrane, combine to meet the thermal insulation requirements of the building envelope.

An additional step taken by BCL to improve both the speed & quality of installtion is the introduction of off-site panel prefabrication techniques. The profiled timber is converted into a range of carefully designed panel sizes to suit each elevation of the building. This approach to a project can reduce both installation cost and timescale and will provide an enhanced visual appearance resulting from our ISO 9001 2000 Quality control procedures.
